Chancel Choir 2004 Annual Report

¡¡

¡°Sing unto the Lord a new song; sing unto the Lord all the earth:
Sing unto the Lord, bless His name; show forth His salvation from day to day.¡±

As is customary, we started the year on Homecoming Sunday, September 2004, and continued with preparations and performances for our high seasons: Stewardship month, Harvest, Christmas, New Year, Easter, Revival, and of course, regular services, ¨C ending in July 2005 when we took our usual break from formal rehearsals to give everyone a chance to rejuvenate and enjoy the Summer holidays. This year, during our summer break, we decided to try something new - members were assigned a Sunday to perform, and were given the option to do solos, or team with others for duets, quartets, etc. This new idea went very well, and was of tremendous benefits to members, as their confidence level rose. This new format was very well received by the congregation as well.

Our Christmas celebrations were limited and our Carol service was cancelled due to the refurbishing of the church. Thanks be to God, however, we were still able to provide the congregation with good music for the season.

As far as growth/membership, we lost our senior and well beloved Alto, Sis. Rose Wilson, who returned to Nicaragua. She will be terribly missed. The choir is now in need of members for the Bass, Tenor and Alto sections.

As we move into the 2005-2006 year, we remain optimistic about our growth and moving on to new things. We will once again try to focus on some of the things we did not get to do. We thank God for our successes as we move forward, and pray that he will continue to anoint our voices, keeping us committed and disciplined, and that we will be a blessing to those who hear our music. We also invite anyone who feels so moved, and who will be committed, to join us.

As always, thanks to our devoted organist, Bro. Noel Patron-Gonzalez with whom I have had the pleasure of working for the last 11 years, for his support. Thanks to the choir members for their continued love and support; to Rev. Turner for his support and encouragement; and last but not least, to you our congregation and friends for your continued love and support. God bless.

Respectfully submitted,
