 What had
long been the dream of Youth Coordinator, Sis. Audrey Waite,
finally became reality, when after a lot of prayers, and toiling
to raise funds, and to get an interest going, The Pans of Faith
(Steel Band) was established on January 14, 2006. Under the
guidance of Bandmaster, Wentworth Richardson, and playing for only
3 months, they made their debut performing on Easter Sunday, April
16, 2006. What a treat we had at service that day¡every person
attending service on that day was filled with pride, and needless
to say, we ALL enjoyed their music.
Made up mostly of Faith¡¯s Youth Fellowship members, they total 16
youths between ages 11 and 17. Within the short time of existence,
they have also played at the recent Community Bazaar put on by the
Lamond Riggs Association. Since then, they have been busy
rehearsing for the Church¡¯s Elegant Affair (our Home Coming event
on Saturday September 9), and a Youth Rally in New York on
November 18, 2006.
New classes will be starting this month (September 2006), so if
you fall within the age range, contact Sis. Waite.
(Word has it some adults
are getting jealous and wants to start playing too¡we¡¯ll keep you
posted.)
