The Acolyte Ministry of Faith Moravian Church is a sacred and meaningful opportunity for young people to serve in worship by assisting with the rituals and symbolism that reflect our reverence for God. As acolytes, we help lead the congregation in worship, bringing dignity, order, and a sense of tradition to each service.
To cultivate a spirit of worship, discipline, and service in our youth as they assist in leading the church in reverent and joyful celebration of God’s presence.
Light and extinguish altar candles, symbolizing the presence of Christ in our worship
Process with the Cross and Candle during special services and observances
Assist during Holy Communion and other sacraments
Participate in special liturgical events such as Advent, Easter, and Christmas services
Support the flow of worship through presence, prayerful attention, and readiness to assist the pastor and sacristans
Acolytes are more than helpers—they are worship leaders in training. This ministry not only teaches reverence and responsibility but also gives our young people a deeper connection to their faith and to the traditions of the Moravian Church.
"Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."
— Matthew 5:16
Youth who are ready to serve with humility, learn the sacred responsibilities of worship, and grow in their faith are encouraged to join. Training is provided, and service schedules are created with flexibility and support.
